I was inspired to go for a career in paediatric nursing after working in children’s residential units for 10 years.
My experience of college has been fantastic and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve learnt so much including time management skills and to be supportive of classmates. As well as managing the workload, I juggled childcare, and all with the brilliant support of my lecturers.
The course itself has been great and a real insight into what to expect from university. It has really set me up well for the next step in my life.
The six month placement in the children’s ward at University Hospital, Crosshouse, convinced me that I’m on the right career path.
I plan to specialise in paediatric nursing and I am now in the first year of a degree course at university.
I’m so happy to have been named Student of the Year. It has gave me a real confidence boost. I would highly recommend the College. The staff went above and beyond to support me, which made the experience even better.
Jacqueline’s lecturer said “Jacqueline has worked for many years developing her skills to get to where she is today. In the face of personal challenges, she has approached each hurdle with a unique determination. I have no doubt she will become an outstanding paediatric nurse who will be an asset to the profession in the future.”
