Having previously studied an Access to Teaching course, I had really enjoyed the science units throughout and wanted to learn more about the subject.
Coming to college had many benefits, and was a fantastic experience. The patient and supportive lecturers made a difference, and I felt encouraged every step of the way. I’ve made life-long friendships at college too, which is a bonus.
I gained a lot of practical skills within science, and have also improved personal skills such as organisation and time management. The confidence that I have now is fantastic.
It’s a great honour to win the Outstanding Achievement Award, and I feel surprised to have been nominated.
I’m studying towards a degree in Applied Bioscience at university and my long term plan is to gain a teaching qualification. I’m looking forward to using my knowledge of science to make the subject fun and interesting for school children.
Lisa’s lecturer said “Lisa has performed at the highest level despite substantial personal issues. She is a very hard-working and dedicated student. She has the admiration of all members of staff for what she has achieved against the odds.”
