What's Involved

This course gives you an excellent introduction to the acting and theatre business, teaching you relevant skills for working on stage, in TV Productions or as a freelance jobbing performer. At the end of the year, you’ll have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice by performing in a production in our newly renovated campus theatre. It’s fun, enjoyable and also hard work, so be prepared to give it your all!

Here’s more on what you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll explore the whole creative process and find out the key stages involved in a musical show, drama production, community project or other creative context.
  • You’ll look in detail at the pre-production process, including how to create a plan, choosing a format and identifying key roles to make the production happen.
  • You’ll develop skills in drama, completing National 5 Drama and National 5 Production Skills.
  • You’ll focus on acting for camera and develop a range of acting techniques.
  • You’ll look at the different sectors within the creative industries, the range of jobs available and opportunities specifically within Scotland. We’ll also help you think creatively and develop your own skills for employment within the creative industries.
  • We’ll help you prepare for audition, identifying your personal strengths and areas for development as you rehearse and perform.

Almost all students will receive as part of their bursary, a selection of branded clothing appropriate to several types of classes including movement and stage costumes.

Go Anywhere

When you successfully complete this course, you’ll have the choice of:
