What's Involved

Travel and tourism is a global industry and also extremely enjoyable to work in. If you’d like to work with people and help them to have a fabulous visit or holiday experience, this course is a great place to start - like all our tourism courses, it’s fun, modern and completely relevant to the current tourism industry.

You’ll start by looking at Scotland - what it’s got to offer tourists and what might attract people to visit. You’ll then look at tourist destinations across the UK and also worldwide, so you’ll know where to find key places and attractions across the planet.

You’ll focus on tourists - who they are, why they’re important and how to manage their expectations, from a day trip to a holiday of a lifetime.

You’ll explore all the various aspects of the tourism industry - from retail and transport, to accommodation and hospitality, and why events are an important aspect of attracting visitors.

You’ll find out how travel agents work, how airports operate and how to make best use of digital and social media to promote your destinations to potential customers.

You’ll also:

  • Visit tourist attractions such as the stunning Culzean Castle, magical Christmas markets in Glasgow or beautiful Loch Lomond.
  • Have the opportunity to hear from professional industry experts who’ll give you their top tips for working successfully in the travel and tourism sector.
