What's Involved

If you’re interested in jewellery and are keen to learn how to design and make your own piece, then this is the course for you.

This 24 week course allows you to investigate jewellery, and learn new techniques and hand skills, working in non-precious metals and materials.

You’ll start by developing your own design from a personal source - you decide which type of piece you’d like to create, from necklace, earring, brooch or ring. You’ll then work through a design process, culminating in the production of an original piece of jewellery.

Some of the basic production techniques of jewellery you’ll learn include:

  • Piercing
  • Soldering
  • Roll printing
  • Forging
  • Cabochon stone setting
  • Finishing and Polishing

On successful completion you’ll receive an SQA module E9SR 11- Art/Design Project: Jewellery
