What's Involved

The Medical Terminology course is an introduction into the terms used in the medical field such as GP surgeries, hospitals, pharmacies and other related settings. The course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn the basics of medical terminology including medical secretaries, pharmaceutical store employees, medical and nursing students and anyone who is interested in understanding more about the language of medicine.

The course covers the medical terminology regarding the following topics:

  • Building & Defining Medical Terms
  • Levels of Organisation
  • Respiratory System
  • Cardiovascular, Blood & Lymphatic System
  • Musculoskeletal System
  • Digestive System
  • Urinary System
  • Nervous System
  • Endocrine System
  • The Reproductive Systems
  • The Special Senses

There are no formal entry requirements.

Funding and Fees

This course is eligible for Individual Training Account (ITA) depending on individual circumstances.

However, Skills Development Scotland have now closed ITA to new applicants and it is anticipated it will reopen in April 2019.
