This course is certificated by BPEC and is designed to improve the employability skills for people in the relevant industry and for those continuing to update their skills or seeking employment. The course will include training and assessment. On completion of the course, the student will be competent and registered in this area for 5 years. This is the CORE GAS SAFETY course which is specifically for engineers to complete who would wish to progress and undertake, service, commission and repair specific gas appliances. This course is the pre-requisite for other courses and MUST be successfully completed prior to specific appliance assessments.

STEM - Construction Tech, Trades, Motor Vehicle and Horticulture
If your ambition is to build a career in construction we can offer you a good solid foundation in whichever area that interests you, including craft, technician, design and management occupations, including architects and civil engineers.
Our courses combine real hands-on training with excellent classroom instruction in the latest methods, materials and building practices. Students will cover subjects such as Architectural Sketching, Construction Materials and Specification, Construction Site Surveying and Construction Technology. All of our courses are industry approved and available at access courses through to advanced levels.
There are opportunities to progress to professional occupations such as Quantity Surveying, Site Managers and Architects.
There’s a huge variety of careers to choose from such as bricklayers and joiners. Employers are looking for team workers with good communication skills and people who are honest, reliable and motivated.
Our courses will allow students to develop skills in brickwork, stonemasonry, painting and decorating, carpentry and joinery, electrical installation or plumbing. Many local employers provide work experience placements for our students. Others develop skills by assisting voluntary and charitable organisations with various projects, this is of great benefit to the local community.
Many of our students secure full-time apprenticeships in a variety of trades including Bricklaying, Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Plumbing and Electrical Installation. Others have gone on to start their own businesses.
The automotive industry is huge and supports just about every other industry you can think of. The automotive industry’s influence is felt by everyone whether it’s commuters travelling to work, HGV drivers carrying goods to customers on time, the emergency services responding to a need, couriers, public transport even motor sports. The automotive industry helps keep the country moving.
Our workshops are fully resourced with specialist systems and diagnostic tooling, to include Hybrid vehicle technology on some campuses.
We deliver nationally recognised motor vehicle courses to suit all levels of ability. Our strong links with industry ensure that our courses reflect current demands and provide opportunities for work experience. Employment opportunities are available in job roles including Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Light or Heavy Vehicles) and Service Engineer.
Agriculture is an important sector of the Scottish economy. Much of the land in Scotland is under agricultural production and the sector is responsible for much of Scotland's food exports. The industry creates many economic, environmental and social benefits, with a large number of people directly employed in agricultural activities.
This rural campus provides a realistic setting for students looking to move into the horticulture and tree surgery sector. Horticulture, Tree Surgery and Garden and Landscaping courses are based here.
Our courses can lead to various types of work including Country Park Rangers, Gardeners or Landscapers. Our tree surgery courses are nationally recognised and allow students to progress to advanced courses in horticulture or occupations such as Arboriculturists or Tree Surgeons.
The tree surgery courses offered at this campus includes training and preparation for National Proficiency Testing Council (NPTC) certificate of competence of chainsaw and relative use.
