    Portraiture Skills (Studio Photography)

    This course runs on a Tuesday evening from 6pm to 9pm for 12 weeks. These times include a period for shut down procedures at the end of the night.

What's Involved

DSLR camera or an inter changeable lens camera

Through Lectures and Practical Tutorials;

Basic camera operation;

  • Mode of shooting, Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO and camera settings
  • Camera and lens choice
  • A basic history of portraiture and contemporary photographic practice
  • Photographic Composition
  • Exposure and Evaluating light
  • Natural Light, reflectors and shaping light
  • On and Off camera Flash, lighting for location
  • Lighting for the Posed Studio Portrait

Uploading and manipulating the digital image in Lightroom or Photoshop. Basic editing and optimizing the portrait in Photoshop.

The course will require some short written aspects, noting and describing techniques and learning process.

Funding and Fees

This course is eligible for Individual Training Account (ITA), depending on individual circumstances.

However, Skills Development Scotland have now closed ITA to new applicants and it is anticipated it will reopen in April 2019.
