Introduction to Massage and Complementary Therapies
Short Full time attendance from 15 January until 11 June (18 weeks), 18 hrs per week

This course is suitable for school leavers or adult returners wishing to pursue a career in Massage and Complementary Therapies. We're looking for you to have Four National 4s or four relevant Standard Grades at General Level or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 4 or equivalent. A place on the course is subject to an interview process and dexterity/skills test.
Students without any formal qualifications, but with life experience and a demonstrable interest in the subject area will also be considered for entry. Industry authority guidelines, in-line with health and safety regulations do not allow minors to perform various aspects of this course, therefore all applicants must be aged 16 or over.
The Introduction to Massage and Complementary Therapies Course will ensure that you have a sound introduction to skills required to study at higher levels in Massage/Complementary and Holistic Health and Wellbeing areas. You will gain experience in basic massage techniques, essential skills required for working in an holistic, complementary therapy environment, self-development and self-help techniques. While this course has a large amount of practical work, there is also a theoretical element in the form of tutor led sessions and research projects.

Progression from this preparatory course will allow access to the Wellness, L6 programme or other NC level 6 programmes within the Complementary Therapies and Beauty therapy curriculum.
There is a large practical element to this course, as well as theoretical knowledge that can lead to further studies in the integrated health and holistic wellbeing career paths such as the progression to our HNC/HND Complementary Therapies course. Opportunities for advancing to degree level are also within the development path of this foundation course.
