If you enjoy problem solving and working with your hands, and you want a career in engineering, then this course can help you on your way.

The qualification will give you a broad introduction to the practices and processes of engineering technology. It covers basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a wide variety of careers. We offer a hands-on approach to basic engineering training by providing you with:

  • Experience and understanding of a range of potential careers in the engineering sector
  • Information that will help you make more informed decisions about your options
  • Personal skills to help you work effectively and achieve your potential
  • Transferable skills and skills that are not widely advanced through the traditional academic route

For entry to this course there are:

  • No formal entry qualifications are required
  • An interview and an aptitude test with us

What's Involved

This course will help you develop engineering skills. Here’s just some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Measuring and marking out
  • Drawing interpretation
  • Manufacturing components to a given tolerance
  • Developing your hand skills
  • Machining engineering materials
  • Learning about electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Working with Computer Aided Design (CAD)

When you successfully complete this course, you’ll have the choice of:

  • Moving onto a PEO Level 5 course or an NC Level 5 in Engineering
  • This course may help you apply for apprenticeships
