The Part-time Fee Grant is funded by Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). The grant gives help each year towards the cost of your tuition fees. The level of tuition fee you can receive will depend on the number of credits you do and the qualification you are studying.
To qualify for support, you will need to meet eligibility criteria on income, courses and qualifications, other funding, course providers and residence.
Income: If your course starts after 31 July 2013, to qualify for this support, you must have an individual income of £25,000 a year or less.
You must be studying an eligible course of Higher Education or Continuing Professional Development at Levels 7-10 of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
You must be doing between 30-119 SCQF credits in each year of your course.
Examples of eligible qualifications include a degree, HNC, HND, some Professional Development Awards, SVQ3 and SVQ4.
If you are eligible to apply for the Part-time Fee Grant, any help you are getting from an employer (towards the cost of fees) will be taken into account before deciding how much you will receive.
You will not be able to apply for part-time fee grant funding if you are already receiving support from another government training scheme. This includes ILA funding, Training for Work, Get Ready for Work and the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme.
If you are already getting full-time support from SAAS then you will not be eligible to apply for the Part-time Fee Grant. This also includes those who are registered full-time but attend on a part-time basis.
You must meet SAAS's normal residence conditions to be eligible for the Part-time Fee Grant.
You can only apply for a PFG by downloading a copy of the Part-Time Fee Grant (PFG1) application form on SAAS.
