College business students raise money for Hillhouse
Ayrshire College students have raised £241.50 for the charity Hillhouse, by holding a fundraising event at their Ayr Campus.
NC Business and Admin (Level 5) students sold cakes, raffle tickets and other items to fellow students and visitors to the campus.
The fundraiser was held as part of the events organisation unit of their course.
Students from the class reached out to local businesses for raffle prize donations, gaining gift vouchers from the Waterfront, Forehill Chinese and the World of Arts.
Class rep Lleona Mclean said “We all had our own set roles - leader, co-leader, stock control and sales. Everyone was fully co-ordinated and doing something different. There was no target in mind, we were just hoping to raise as much as we could and we managed to raise £241.50. All in all it was a very worthwhile experience where we were all able to gain valuable skills.
“We decided to raise money for Hillhouse - a charity that helps individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardship, and is one of the College’s supported charities. We visited the organisation before the event so as to have an awareness of the work they were achieving, we were given marketing and informational materials to display at our event.”
