Travel and Tourism students raise awareness of the Biosphere
Ayrshire College’s travel and tourism students have hosted an awareness raising day for the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire (GSA) Biosphere partnership.
The event, which was an integral part of the course, was a fantastic opportunity for the students to collaborate with GSA Biosphere, playing their part in promoting the partnership with the College.
As well as a chef’s demonstration from Lecturer Euan Currie on the day, showcasing the best of Ayrshire’s produce, there was a question and answer session from representatives from the Biosphere Partnership.
The students worked on a live brief that complemented the principles of the Biosphere, including conserving the natural resources of the area, supporting the economy, promoting cultural heritage and local products, contributing to the health and wellbeing of the community, and generally raising awareness of the GSA Biosphere.
Tourism student Andrew Sloan hosted the event, and said "We worked hard for months planning this event, and for it to all come together the way it did was fantastic.”
Lecturer Richard Canale said “I am very proud of the HND Tourism class. To plan, organise and carry out an event of this nature can be very daunting and a complex task. I have had the opportunity to see them grow their skills and their confidence. I look forward to seeing where their careers take them.”
