College Hospitality team serves up £700 to Ayrshire Hospice
Ayrshire College’s Hospitality department has presented a cheque worth £694.88 to the Ayrshire Hospice.
The donation was raised solely from customers who enjoyed a meal at their Ayr Campus restaurant, Taste@Ayr, between October and December 2016.
Taste@Ayr is a training environment for Hospitality students at Ayrshire College that offers affordable first-class dining to customers. Members of the public can enjoy a three-course lunch for only £7.50. Professional Cookery students prepare the food which is then served by Hospitality students.
A similar restaurant - Taste@Irvine - was established last year at the College’s Skills Centre of Excellence Campus in Irvine. While the new Kilmarnock Campus restaurant, Salt & Barrel, opened to the public in October 2016.
Ruth Jeanes, Hospitality and Tourism Administrator at Ayrshire College, said “The Ayrshire Hospice is a local charity that we can all identify with, and is a cause close to our hearts.
“From October 2015 to May 2016, in what was our first year of fund raising, we raised £1,752.17 for Ayrshire Hospice. We’re delighted to be able to present them with another substantial donation this month.”
Taste@Ayr is preparing to re-open to customers on Tuesday 7 February through to the end of May.
