Ayr Graduation 2019: Student of the Year for Social Sciences

September 27, 2019 - Jane Moore

I have grown tremendously in confidence since starting this course. The main reason for this is because all of the lecturers have been so encouraging throughout my first year.

When I left school, I chose this course because I knew I would enjoy all of the subjects and that I would do well studying a subject I was interested in.

I was nervous before starting college as it was a totally new chapter of my life but I quickly settled in after meeting my lecturers and peers.

The course was very varied, teaching us: politics, sociology, psychology, history, and research methods. This course has really gave me an insight into different parts of society. Researching and doing work for the course didn’t seem like studying as I had a great interest in all of the subjects.

I have grown tremendously in confidence since starting this course. The main reason for this is because all of the lecturers have been so encouraging throughout my first year.

My communication skills have also grown and I now feel very motivated for the year ahead.

I feel honoured that I have won this award. It was such a shock as I wasn’t expecting to win anything. It’s really encouraging to be recognised for my hard work.

The skills I’ve gained on the course are transferrable to any career and my final goal would be a social worker or a community youth worker.

I am now continuing at Ayrshire College doing the HND Social Sciences.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at college so far and I look forward to what this year will bring.
