Kilwinning Graduation 2019: Student of the Year for Business, Administration and Accounts

Ayrshire College has been one of the best things that has happened to me.

I was a full-time mum before I started college and I wanted to update my skills and gain a current qualification which would allow me to return to work.

My college experience has been a fantastic one. I have gained qualifications I never thought possible, been the recipient of several awards, made new friends, established good relationships with lecturers and expanded my professional network.  I was also fortunate enough to get hands-on work experience after securing an internship with the College Marketing department.

The course was very involved, and covered subjects such as Advanced Access, Excel and Word, Project Management, Desktop Publishing, Presentation Skills, ICT in Business, as well as Business, Culture and Strategy.

I enjoyed achieving and learning new skills, knowing I was improving my knowledge and working towards my goal of securing a good job.  I have grown in confidence and feel I can now promote myself as an invaluable candidate for any job vacancy I apply for.

I am absolutely delighted to have won this award. Winning it last year was fantastic but this year is amazing!  HND Administration and IT is a very challenging course, so to have been chosen as Student of the Year demonstrates to me how much I have achieved.

I think this award will make me stand out to potential employers and hopefully secure me a position with a well-respected organisation.

Ayrshire College has been one of the best things that has happened to me. In particular, I'd like to thank the lecturing staff at the Kilwinning Campus, who went above and beyond to support me on my journey to achieving my HND, and always created an environment that encourages and promotes learning.

I initially came to college for one year to obtain an NC qualification, so I think the fact that I stayed for four years and have achieved HND Administration & IT speaks for itself!
