This course runs on a Tuesday evening between 6.00pm - 8.00pm for 32 weeks. These times include a period for shut down procedures at the end of the night.

Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements apart from interest in Science.
Biology OR Chemistry OR Physics at Nat4 or above, OR relevant previous experience of Science will be advantageous.
What's involved
Upon completion of this evening course, you will receive a Professional Development Award (PDA) in Food Science. It is a highly practical course consisting of 2 biology and 2 chemistry units that would cover microbiology of foods, food analysis, and food composition amongst others topics.
The assessment includes: practical assessment with associated written reports, maintenance of a technical lab diary, and written end of unit exams.

This course will provide you with the knowledge that could help you on your journey to becoming a scientist. The successful completion of this course would allow you to progress onto HNC Applied Science (SCQF level 7) at the Ayrshire College or to seek relevant employment in scientific and food industries.
The PDA is the equivalent of one advanced higher so it will facilitate your entry to the university, specifically you will be able to apply to Glasgow Caledonian University to study Food Science.
