So by investing in digital and IT skills now, you could find yourself highly sought after in the future!

What's Involved

This course introduces you to the skills you’ll need for a technical support or networking role.

You’ll begin by looking at computer system basics – the various hardware and software, how to install an operating system and how to install/configure application and security software.

You’ll learn about computer networks and how to build a Local Area Network (LAN). You’ll look at devices, media, protocols and safety, including basic routers and firewalls.

You’ll learn skills in basic software development, including what’s involved in programming, coding, testing and technical documentation.

You’ll explore desktop operating systems using official Microsoft materials such as Windows. You’ll look at how to install and configure, deal with problems and maintain an operating system. This includes user migration, hardware and software compatibility, security features, network connectivity and applications.

You’ll also learn how to design, manage and deploy operating systems using an optimal process. This includes system and user settings, standard applications and security.

You’ll learn how to design and create a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), and discover the concepts and scope of relational databases using a query language (SQL).

You’ll develop valuable skills for finding solutions to computing problems in computer networking, software development or technical support.

You’ll also have the chance to work on a team based ICT project.

Finally, you’ll look at professional issues, including legislation, codes of conduct and ethical considerations.
