Whats involved

This unit is ideal for those on the early stages of their managerial career and looking to enhance their skills. The course has a focus on application of leadership behaviours and practices within the workplace environment, as well as creating an understanding of why these behaviours and practices are required of leaders.

To reflect leadership practices in the current working environment, the course now contains an in-depth section on leading remote teams, and while this area is not assessed within the unit, it would be a fantastic addition to any manager or leader's skill set.

This 2 credit unit forms part of the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management, accredited by City & Guilds Group, and achievement of a further 2 credits at a minimum (1 further 2 credit unit) would allow candidates to obtain this Award, or utilise the unit towards the wider ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management framework. The course content is at SCQF Level 6.

Course Content:

  • Examining Leadership Styles & Current Practices
  • Factors affecting Leadership behaviours
  • Impact of Leadership on individuals and teams
  • Feedback in leadership and continuous development
  • Key skills for successful remote team leadership

Participants will gain a range of leadership skills that will be extremely useful in their development and of great value to their organisation. By the end of the course attendees will have greater levels of confidence in their leadership abilities and have increased knowledge of the behaviours and skills required of leaders and managers. Further to this, attendees will also have gained increased knowledge of the key skills required for successfully managing and leading remote teams, reflecting current working practices.
