Scotland has a world-renowned reputation for engineering and is at the cutting-edge of engineering developments. Engineers design, create, test and improve all sorts of products and processes. They enjoy exciting career opportunities in lots of different sectors - including aeronautics.

Aeronautics is a high-profile industry which focuses on the design and manufacture of a wide range of aircraft, systems and equipment. The aerospace sector offers superb career opportunities for those who are technical and genuinely fascinated by design. It’s a key sector within the Ayrshire economy and we work very closely with local employers, ensuring our courses offer the skills and training they look for in employees.

If you're considering a career in engineering - and in the aerospace sector in particular - this course can help you on your way.

What's Involved

This introductory course includes an introduction to the CATIA V5 interface and the key processes of using the CATIA V5 platform. It will give students an insight into the role of the aircraft design engineer and the design process they follow. It will expand upon the criteria and considerations that are built into their designs.

Students will gain knowledge and understanding in the following CATIA V5 workbenches:
• 2D Sketcher
• 3D Part Design
• 3D Assembly
• 2D Engineering Drawings

CATIA V5 is the design package used by a number of employers in the local aerospace hub, and students will be taught to the relevant industry standards. This will provide students with the fundamental building blocks to start a career in design engineering.

Go Anywhere

The skills gained from this course can be used in the production of drawings for a range of industries/disciplines, including engineering, product design and construction.
