If you’d like to work in a bakery or kitchen, then this course is a great place to start!
For entry you’ll need:
- A genuine interest in bakery and professional cookery
- National 3 qualifications in Math and English or a relevant course at SCQF 3 or equivalent
- If you don’t have any qualifications, you may still be considered for the course
What's Involved
This foundation course is ideal for learners who are new to bakery and cookery. It aims to provide an introduction to techniques, terms and skills involved in both baking and cooking. This hands-on course covers:
- Food Hygiene
- Bread Making
- Craft baking
- Food Preparation Techniques
- Cake Decoration
On completion, you will achieve a NPA in Bakery and NPA in Professional Cookery at SCQF Level 4
This course will help you decide in which direction you want your hospitality career to progress.

- SVQ in Professional Cookery at SCQF Level 5
