NC Oral Health Care (Dental Nursing) Preparing for Practice
Full time, one year
For entry to this course you will require 3 National 5 qualifications.
If you are interested in a career in Dental Nursing, Oral Health or within Health and Social Care. This course can help you on your way. It offers you a broad perspective across key areas to prepare you for your next progression route or employment. This course develops your knowledge and understanding for working successfully in a Dental or Care setting.

- First aid
- Health and safety
- Dental anatomy
- Dental patient care
- The clinical assessment of patients’ dental health
- The safe handling of instruments, materials, and equipment used in dental practice
You’ll build transferable Essential Skills in meaningful contexts to help you become more effective in life, learning, and work. This could be communication, numeracy, ICT, working with others, and problem solving.
Successful completion of this course may provide progression opportunities to:
- PDA in Dental Nursing*
- SVQ in Dental Nursing*
- Employment in the oral health care sector, perhaps as a trainee dental nurse*
