Numeracy and Maths for Parents
Tuesday evening - 6pm to 9pm
With the lockdown because of COVID, many of our young people have missed out on vital school interactions and this can have a huge impact on their understanding of subjects, especially Mathematics. This course will help you understand the basics of what is being asked of school students on the National 5 Mathematics and Applications of Mathematics courses and aims to help you support them with their studies.
With no prior qualifications required, we intend to visit the key concepts of the curriculum and help you tackle questions alongside students in a constructive way. Being able to approach a mathematical problem in a logical manner is a skill that has far-reaching applications both in and outside of school.
There are no assessments involved within the course, though we will look at Mock Assessments and Exam techniques to help you guide young people.
As well as Mathematical classes, some evenings will be dedicated to supporting students with exam question analysis, study skills and learning styles.
Completion of this course should allow you to tackle National 5 Mathematics problems and give constructive advice to those who need it.
If you want to return and complete the National 5 Applications of Mathematics course in the future; this course will teach you the analytical skills required to be successful.
