National 2 or Access 2 Qualifications. A place on this course is subject to an interview process. Students without any formal qualifications, but with life experience and a demonstrable interest in the subject area will also be considered for entry
This is a real practical course and you’ll spend approximately 50% of your time in the garage workshop.
We’ll help you develop your skills for employment, such as working as part of a team and creating a CV to get you noticed.
You’ll be introduced to all vehicle-related systems, including engines, emissions, exhausts, electrical, brakes, fuel, starting, steering and suspension. You’ll get to know a vehicle inside and out, and learn how to perform a range of routine checks.
You’ll look at the effects of vehicles on the environment, including alternative fuels and electric vehicles.
You’ll also learn about workshop safety and maintenance, vehicle construction and fitting components.
Progression to fulltime course for IMI level 1 available at Kilmarnock campus.
