    Introduction to British Sign Language (BSL)

What's involved

Our engaging and informative evening class will enable candidates to use BSL in simple situations to communicate about everyday personal topics, such as:

  • basic greetings
  • weather
  • the alphabet
  • numbers
  • colours

Candidates will gain the British Sign Language (BSL) F8Y0 09 SQA Unit.

Assessment Criteria:

Candidates will be expected to provide evidence to meet the requirements of three outcomes.

  • Produce personal information for users of BSL
  • Respond to personal information produced by users of BSL
  • Receive information from simple presentations in BSL

These will be assessed via one to one presentations with the tutor and/or other group members.
