PDA Arts Education in Practice
This course runs on a Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm for 34 weeks.
From 21 Oct 2019
You should currently be working/volunteering or planning to work/volunteer in a community or educational setting delivering visual arts sessions. Being qualified to SCQF level 7 or above would be an advantage, but is not essential.
You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to your chosen visual art form and a strong interest or current practice in working with groups in formal or informal settings.
On this course you will develop skills to work with children, young people and adults in an educational or community based setting, including:
- Planning and preparing for delivering art sessions
- Selecting appropriate activities, materials and resources
- Creating a safe and supportive learning environment
- Developing techniques to deliver effective art sessions
- Helping individuals set learning goals
- Evaluating and developing own practice
This award can be undertaken as continuing professional development in addition to an existing HN level qualification such as HND Art & Design.
If you do not currently have formal art qualifications, you may be able to proceed to one of the following courses:
- HNC Art & Design
- HNC Visual Communication
