Ayrshire Foundation Apprentice shortlisted for Scottish Apprenticeship Awards
An Ayrshire College Foundation Apprentice has been shortlisted as a Finalist for the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards 2018, Foundation Apprentice of the Year category.
Fraser Wallace, a former Greenwood Academy pupil, studied a Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering during his 5th and 6th year of secondary school at the College, as part of his school timetable.
He has now progressed to a Modern Apprenticeship with local Prestwick employer GE Caledonian. The company offered Fraser a place on their Modern Apprenticeship programme during the first year of his Foundation Apprenticeship, after a successful work experience placement.
Kirsty Taylor, Foundation Apprentice and Employer Engagement lead at Ayrshire College, commented: “Fraser has been a great ambassador for the College and his employer GE Caledonian. His enthusiasm and commitment to the two year course has been evident since he started in 2016. He has worked hard to maintain his school work and excel in the Foundation Apprenticeship. We wish him every success on the night and in his future.”
GE Caledonian’s Apprentice Leader, Stephen McNab, also commented: “Fraser truly deserves to be shortlisted for this award. It was evident from the first time we met Fraser that he was enthusiastic about the engineering industry and in particular GE Caledonian. The course has been a great help in preparing Fraser for his Modern Apprenticeship, it has meant he could enter into year two of our programme. We are excited to see what his future at GE Caledonian will look like and we will be cheering him on at the awards ceremony”.
The award winners will be announced on the 15th November 2018 at a Ceremony and Dinner at Perth Concert Hall.
