Ayrshire College raises the bar at national awards

Ayrshire College’s training restaurant ‘Salt and Barrel’ is one of fifteen licensed venues in Kilmarnock celebrating after receiving official accreditation, as a member of the Best Bar None Scotland scheme this week.

Best Bar None is an Accreditation Scheme with National Awards supported by the drinks industry which is aimed primarily at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.

The venues have all received accreditation for ensuring they and their staff have met a level of standard that assures members of the public they will be able to enjoy a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

Receiving the Silver Award on behalf of Salt and Barrel restaurant in the Kilmarnock Campus, Curriculum Manager of Hospitality and Tourism at Ayrshire College, Maggie Garrard said “It’s a great opportunity for premises and partner agencies in the area to work together to maintain safe and welcoming licensed venues.

We are delighted to have won this award and have recognition for our high standards at the College’s training restaurant.”

The accreditation scheme which has the backing of the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, is a unique National accreditation and award scheme aimed at raising standards and rewarding licensed premises who undertake positive management practices in support of a great and safe night out.
