Hair and Beauty students provide winning make-over

Ayrshire College Hair and Beauty students at Ayr Campus assisted with celebrity makeovers for competition winners from Stagecoach West Scotland recently.

Four Stagecoach staff members won a celebrity makeover as part of an in-house competition, with Celebrity Stylist Mark Heyes, best known for providing fashion advice on the lifestyle show ‘Lorraine’.

Each winner received one hour of personal shopping with Mark, followed by hair and make-up provided by Ayrshire College Make-up Artistry and Hairdressing students, then treated to afternoon tea, provided by Professional Cookery and Hospitality students at Ayrshire College’s training restaurant Westerly in Ayr.

Hair, Beauty and Make-Up Artistry Curriculum Manager, Michelle Howie said “This was a fabulous confidence building opportunity for our students. They were super excited! We all feel very privileged and grateful that Ayrshire College students have been asked to be part of this event. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to showcase the students’ professionalism.”

Hairdressing student, Kirsty Campbell said “I was nervous at first but I’ve really enjoyed the experience. It’s something different to work with a celebrity.”

Celebrity Stylist Mark Heyes said “It’s been fantastic working with the students, they’ve really added to the competition winners’ experience. The facilities at the College are brilliant, and the students have been very professional.”

Applications for Hair and Beauty courses and Hospitality courses are open now.
