Ayrshire College accesses the Big White Wall

Ayrshire College students and staff now have access to the Big White Wall, an online mental health and well-being service.

The award-winning digital resource is available to students and staff offering confidential access to a library of self-care resources, tips and guided group courses.

Trained professionals are available round the clock to keep members safe and supported when they are online and can help with managing stress and anxiety.

Since the closure of the College, as a result of COVID-19, student support teams have been working from home, continuing to help and respond to student queries regarding finances, learning, applications, as well as their wellbeing.

Now, all students and staff also have free access to the Big White Wall, which offers an opportunity for people to stay connected even at a time when we have to distance ourselves socially. The Big White Wall has courses on managing anxiety as well as many other issues alongside a safe, anonymous online community where people can express how they're feeling and, importantly, connect with others.

Carol Turnbull, Principal and Chief Executive of Ayrshire College said ““Our priority has always been supporting the mental health and well-being of our staff and students. These challenging times, when individuals and families are being tested in so many ways, are no different.

"We encourage everyone to make the most of our new Big White Wall resource, which can be accessed 24/7 from home. It's important we all look after our mental health as well as our physical health and to continue to follow expert medical advice.”

Doreen Wales, Head of Student Experience at Ayrshire College said “We are really pleased to offer the Big White Wall to our students. It provides 24/7 access to online resources and support, which is vital for our students at this difficult time”.

Most Big White Wall members report feeling better and more able to cope with their workloads as a result of using the service with nearly 90% use Big White Wall outside of 9-5pm.

Students and staff can register for the Big White Wall service using their college email address.

Big White Wall is anonymous and personal information is kept secure while using the site. To find out more please watch this video.
