Ayrshire College's Sport and Fitness courses look strong for August 2020

Ayrshire College has shaken up its Sport and Fitness offering for 2020/21 - with major developments for its North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire students.

Students from South Ayrshire who would previously have had to travel to East Ayrshire or North Ayrshire to study a Sport & Fitness course, will now be able to study at the Ayr Campus from August 2020, as the College is introducing two new full-time Sport & Fitness courses.

Students who enrol on the Sport and Fitness and Advanced Sport and Fitness courses at the Ayr Campus will also be able to utilise facilities at the Citadel leisure centre as part of their course.

While Kilwinning-based students are to gain access to the stunning 'The Circuit' and 'Portal' leisure facilities in Irvine, thanks to the College's strong partnership with KA Leisure.

Students on the new Introduction to Sport and Fitness, Sport and Fitness and Advanced Sport and Fitness courses will now be based in brand new facilities at the Kilwinning Campus, including a Sports Science laboratory.

These full-time courses have a high practical component, with students participating in sports like basketball, swimming, table tennis and volleyball, as well as circuit training, fitness classes and weight training. Ayrshire College's bespoke HND course in Applied Sport and Exercise Science is one of only two in Scotland, and is used by students who wish to progress to university to study either Physiotherapy or Sports Science.

Being able to access KA Leisure's impressive leisure facilities will provide a big boost to the students studying towards a career in the sport, health, leisure or fitness industry.
