We are looking for people who want to work with others, helping and supporting them through those difficult times when they are most vulnerable, like Paul Scott.

“I had an interest in working with people, addictions and mental health, so I decided to pursue a career in social services.

"My job requires me to work with a diverse client group, and each service user has different complex issues. I always try to go the extra mile for the clients in my care. Simple things, like taking a few minutes to ask clients how their day has been, or offering them a cup of tea, can make a big difference.

"Building trust is important, so integrity is essential in this line of work. Good communication skills help me create a rapport with service users and colleagues.

"The HNC Social Services course helped me grow in confidence. I gained an understanding of mental health and the human mind, which really fascinated me. I also developed a range of skills, which I use daily in my workplace.

"I really enjoy what I do. Being able to offer some stability in people’s chaotic lifestyles is satisfying. I intend to continue working in the homeless accommodation sector and one day I’d also like to progress to university.”
