If you're passionate about barbering and want to start on an exciting career path, our Barbering SCQF Level 5 course is the perfect choice. This full-time course will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the barbering industry. As a barber, you'll play a vital role in shaping current trends and helping clients look and feel their best. This course is suitable for those taking their first steps in the profession or qualified hairdressers looking to expand into barbering.

To study on this course, you'll need:

• a genuine interest in barbering
• four National 4s or equivalent qualifications, or completion of a relevant course at SCQF Level 4 or equivalent
• a completed application with a full personal statement
• age 16 or over

If you don’t have formal qualifications but have life experience, then we’ll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.

During this course, you may learn:

• shampooing and conditioning techniques: including understanding hair, skin, and scalp structures
• precision cutting skills: such as club cutting, texturising, scissor and clipper over comb, and freehand techniques
• outlining and detailing: straight and curved finishes
• drying and styling methods
• client consultation skills: examining hair, skin, and scalp, and recommending services and products
• salon reception duties: including appointment scheduling and payment processing

You may also have opportunities to:

Once you’ve finished this course, you may have the opportunity to:

• progress to our Advance Barbering and Shaving Techniques course at SCQF Level 6
• begin your career as a salon-based or self-employed barber
