Overview

This is a gateway to an exciting career in the baking industry. You'll immerse yourself in the art of baking, develop skills that are not only in demand but also deeply satisfying. There are many opportunities for employment - baking for hotels or restaurants or working in large-scale commercial bakeries, specialist or artisan bakeries. You might even pave your way towards becoming a Head or Executive Chef. You may even decide to venture into entrepreneurship, setting up and running your own bakery business.

Entry requirements

For this course you’ll need:

  • a genuine interest in baking
  • aspirations for a rewarding career in the baking industry
  • core skills in communication, ICT, and numeracy at Level 4

If you don’t have formal qualifications, but have appropriate experience or training, then we’ll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.

Course content

This course includes:

  • national competitions: showcase your talent on a broader stage by participating in national competitions such as the Student Team Challenge or the Breadmaking Challenge

You’ll also gain essential, transferable skills such as communication, numeracy, ICT, teamwork and problem solving – skills that will serve you well in all aspects of life, education and work.
