New Principal starts at Ayrshire College

Carol Turnbull begins her new role as Principal and Chief Executive of Ayrshire College as she took up her post on 1 March.

Carol succeeds Heather Dunk who is retiring after five years in the role as Principal and aims to build on the success under Heather’s leadership.

Carol brings a wealth of experience as she joins the College from Dumfries and Galloway College, where she has been Principal for the last six years.

Carol said “This is an irresistible opportunity to help shape the future for one of the largest regions in Scotland and I am excited to be joining a college that already has a successful reputation for supporting learners and its communities.

“What I’m looking forward to most, is meeting and working with the students and staff, to build on the success, and ensure Ayrshire College continues to meet and exceed the expectations of the region and the sector.”

Carol is currently the Chair of the Colleges Scotland Principals’ Group and Vice Chair of the Board of Colleges Scotland, and has an excellent understanding of the national context for colleges in Scotland. She has built strong and important relationships with key stakeholders at a national level, and her profile within the Scottish context is high.
