Diary of an Office Kitchen - Week 5
Monday 20 April 2020
6.00am David left for work. Whilst he is on annual leave he obviously felt that a whole week with me was too much of a good thing so decided to go into the office...
7.30am Prepare a green tea and grapefruit for breakfast. New week and a new start.
8.30am Prepare porridge and a cup of builders tea, followed by a chocolate digestive.
10.00am Join SLT Zoom meeting. Everyone is in attendance after a few days annual leave for some of the team. I would like to say they all look raring to go but I’d be lying.
10.45am Score 18 points in Pop Master.
11.57am Join Team Zoom meeting. Haircuts were not mentioned once. Disappointing.
1.57pm Call from David to let me know he will be coming home,at some point, even though he is on annual leave. He asks if I have managed to clear all the kitchen cupboards to enable him to start painting...I point out I’m working and about to head to a meeting. He laughs....
2.00pm Join the biggest Zoom meeting I have ever attended! 21 attendees. This really is like Eurovision now...I need to put on more make-up for the next one.
6.30pm David home from his first day off as annual leave.

4.31pm Email from my sister asking me what I want for my birthday. Diamonds were once a girls best friend. These days its wine, yoga bottoms and dry shampoo.
4.45pm Log off and join David for a gin. Would not want him drinking on his own.
Wednesday 22 April 2020
9.31am David has still not started decorating.
9.57am Prepare for SLT Zoom meeting. David makes a guest appearance and decides that now is the best time to clean the French windows which are clearly visible on my camera.
10.30am After cleaning the French windows, front door and watering the pots outside David needs a coffee break.
12.30pm Back from dog walk and David now wants lunch. Decorating has still not started...
2.00pm Decorating in the kitchen has started!!

4.30pm David stops decorating.
Thursday 23 April 2020
9.00am Excited to be set up in my new office. The dogs seemed nonplussed and settle on the sofa.
9.01am David is eating breakfast in my new office...
10.30am First Zoom meeting of the day. David is whispering at the dogs...I don’t tell him my microphone is muted and the participants can’t hear me or him!
12.00pm Realise social distancing from the fridge seems to be working. I’ve not thought about food since 10.29am!
1.30pm David is eating lunch in my new office...
2.00pm Second Zoom meeting of the day. David is still whispering...such fun.
3.30pm David on a tea break...
4.30pm Phone call from Mum. She tells me she would like to tell me a coronavirus joke, but I’d have to wait two weeks to see if I’ve got it.
9.30pm Log off. (I actually stopped working at 5pm but see 9.35pm).
9.35pm David stops decorating...I have realised David stops decorating once I have closed the laptop down.
Friday 24 April 2020
9.00am David announces he needs to “work” this morning and will be on a call from 10am and then needs to complete some fancy looking spreadsheet with lots of colours. Can he share my office space? Ummm no!
9.01am David is eating breakfast in my new office...
9.57am Get ready for SLT Zoom meeting. Haircuts again are a topic of conversation. Halfway through I realise I’ve not brushed my hair and wonder if SLT were trying to diplomatically tell me my hair looks awful.
12.00pm David has still not commenced decorating.
1.35pm David starts decorating. I’m not hopeful that my kitchen will be functional by the weekend. So far he has painted two cupboards out of 11.
1.40pm David asks when lunch is.
2.00pm Prepare a G&T for my lunch.
