Meet the 2020/21 Student Association team
Our Ayrshire College Student Association (ACSA) team is now hard at work as the 2020/21 academic year officially gets underway, with our School-College partnership programmes beginning this week.
Lauren Howieson, this year's Student President of the ACSA, is well known to returning students - Lauren was the Student Vice President last year. She did such a great job, our students voted her into the President position this year.
This year's Student Vice President – Steven Oliver - is joining the ACSA team fresh from his NC Health & Social Care course at the Ayr Campus.
Lauren looks to continue the good work of the team, while noting that there will be a different feel to this year.
Lauren said: "I'm really looking forward to welcoming students, both new and returning this year.
"It will be a confusing and tough year for all but I know that our students are coming back with the best support possible from all staff at the College.
"I want our students to remember that the Student Association is always here. We will be on campus two days a week should you need to come see us (please make an appointment first), and our emails are checked everyday!
"Enjoy your phased return, and please know that we are doing everything we can to make sure your year at college is remembered with a smile."
Steven hopes to carry on the great work of the Wear It On Your Sleeve mental health campaign started by last year's ACSA Student President, Jack McCrindle.
Here's what Steven has to say about joining the ACSA team:
"With students gradually returning to campus we are all working hard to prepare for the upcoming academic year.
"Although this year will look a little different, we will be doing our best to help you all access the perks that being a student would usually bring.
"With a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing we will be sure to engage with students as often as possible whether it be through email, video chats or social media.
"I wish everyone the best for this year, and I hope to see you all soon."
