Introduction from our Student President

Linda Corbett is our Student President for the academic year 2023-24. Read more about Linda's college experience and her decision to run for Student President.

I have just completed Introduction to Film and Broadcasting, Level 5, which I absolutely loved. As a mature student, it was a big decision for me to change careers and I was so nervous to start college, but all of my lecturers and the college staff were so welcoming and I ended up having just the best year.

I have found the college environment to be so open, welcoming and engaging and it’s been a really fun year, so when the Elections for Student President came along, I knew that with my experience in previous jobs and as a student, I could have a really positive impact on the experiences of other students. I was delighted to have won the student vote and to take up the position of Student President.

My career background before coming to college really surrounded giving advice, help and support to others. I worked at Citizens Advice for almost 10 years and that job really showed me the importance of representation and advocacy, which lends itself well to the work that the Student Association does.

The Student Association has a busy year ahead and I can’t wait to get started.
