After working in hairdressing for over 30 years, Nancy Neill decided it was time for a change. She applied for the NC Health and Social Care course at Kilmarnock Campus and, just after completing the course, secured her dream job.

Marketing have been tasked with spending a “Day in the life of” a variety of students. As a Marketing and PR Officer, I quite often interview students for blogs, case studies and press stories. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to spend the day as the ‘student’.

Claire Todd, who is on a work experience placement with our Marketing team, has been spending time visiting students around the College.

PR Work Experience, Claire Todd met with Caroline Greer and Katie Ralston. Both work within the marketing department at Ayrshire College and took up the Digital Photography night class.

Ayrshire College creative students celebrated in style with a spectacular end of year show at the College’s Riverside Building in Ayr. Showcasing a wide range of work from art and design to fashion, media and photography, the Creative Arts 2018 Medicine Show highlighted the high standard of talent we have here at the College.

Next up in our “Day in the Life of” blogs, we meet some students from the Hair, Beauty, Complementary Therapy & Make-Up department. Claire Todd, media intern, spent the morning in the Kilwinning salon, hoping to find out why some of the mature students decided that now was the time to return to education.

Continuing our special ‘Day in the Life Of’ blog series, our graphic designer, Lynn Robertson spent a morning with Tracey Callaghan, an Early Education and Childcare Level 5 student at our Kilwinning campus.

Caroline Greer from the Marketing Team interviewed and then spent a morning in class with Angela Leishman a HNC Administration and IT student to find out what it’s like to return to college as a mature student in her 40’s and what were her concerns, fears and highlights.

The Marketing team has been set a task to spend a day in the life of a student. Our aim is to provide an insight into some of our courses to help us provide better information to applicants.
