What's Involved?
The course content will cover the main ceramics hand building techniques including pinch pot, coiling and slab building, students will also have an introduction to throwing on a potters wheel, students will produce and glaze at least one object with each technique, and have the opportunity to design and make as time allows, following introductory lessons students can pick and choose which techniques they focus on, a basic kit of tools is supplied for each student.
This course is for someone who has little or no knowledge of ceramics and would like to explore ceramics as a medium, but would also be ideal for the person with some knowledge they would like to explore. there will be no assessment, however, feedback is given at all stages and a college certificate will be awarded on completion of the course.
As this is a practical course, it is recommended to bring a pinny, apron or covering. You will be provided with a set of materials and supplies, additional clay on top of your bundle can be purchased if and when required.
