Overview

Wellness and Spa Therapy professionals play an important role in contributing to positive wellbeing, by helping us feel our best. They also get to be part of a diverse and ever-evolving industry, which makes it rewarding to work in. (In recent years), interest in wellbeing and spa therapies has increased considerably, and this is expected to continue, providing employment opportunities. To gain accreditation, home study and end assessment are mandatory to achieve full qualification.

To be successful in this profession, you must be caring, committed, and hardworking. You'll also need to be self-motivated, a good team player, and enjoy working with people. If you're interested in taking the first steps on this exciting career path, this is the course for you.

Entry Requirements

For entry to this course, you'll need:

  • a real interest in wellbeing, Facial Spa therapy and a desire to work/or already be working in a Spa environment.
  • four National 4s or equivalent OR a relevant course at SCQF Level 4, or equivalent.
  • to submit an application, completing all sections, including Personal Statement in full.
  • to be aged 16 or over.

If you don't have formal qualifications, but have life experience, then we'll also consider you for a place. To apply, complete all sections, including Personal Statement in full. We may notify you of the outcome by letter and/or receive an interview.

Course Content

The course gives you a great introduction to the skills, attributes, and knowledge required to become a professional Facial Therapy Spa Therapist. Due to spa and beauty being such a fast-changing industry, our aim is always to ensure that your course develops the current skills and knowledge required for positive progression, therefore some of what you study on the course may change. Here's just some of the units you may study: Facial Skincare,Anatomy and Physiology,Health and Safety,Consultation and Customer Care skills. You'll also develop your skills through: working in our commercial training salons, helping at promotional events, such as campus wellbeing days.

Careers and Further Study

Upon successful course completion, you may have the opportunity to:pursue further studies to enhance your industry-specific skills, begin your career as a Spa Facial Technician, progress to roles such as Salon Spa Therapist, Self-employed Spa Facial Therapist, Salon Owner, Cruise Ship Spa Therapist, or Destination Spa Therapist with additional qualifications
