Entry Requirements
To apply for this course, you'll need:
- a genuine passion for music
- Higher Music
- plus Core Skills at Level 5 OR relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent (eg. Access to HNC Music)
- musical performance ability in at least one instrument or voice at Higher level
- an audition and interview with us
If you don't have formal qualifications but have life experience, then we'll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.
Course Content
Some of what you may study:
- stagecraft
- audience interaction
- technical performance skills
- stage persona development
- songwriting
- understanding song structures and creating original compositions
- composing, exploring various techniques and styles and crafting musical compositions
- recording techniques, including multi-track recording processes music theory
- fundamentals on-performance aspects: explore the fundamentals of music business covering key areas crucial to the industry
Work Placement
each student will have a job role working with events or business with our Record Label, Sun Turtle Records. In addition to these enriching experiences, you'll dedicate up to a day each week to rehearse with your band in our state-of-the-art rehearsal studio complex. Furthermore, there's the exciting possibility of showcasing your talents at live gigs in the college theatre, as well as at local pubs and clubs across Ayrshire.
Careers and Further Study
After you have successfully completed this course, you may have several paths to choose from: progress to HND Music pursue a music performance or production degree at a university explore various career options in the music industry, including roles like Professional Musician, Music Teacher, Music Producer, DJ, and more Your qualifications and abilities, coupled with determination, open doors to a diverse range of music-related careers.
