To apply for this course, you should have:

• a Hairdressing qualification at SCQF Level 5, SVQ level 2, or equivalent
• a genuine interest in the field of hairdressing
• be 16 years of age or older

If you don’t have formal qualifications but have experience, then we’ll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.

Our Hairdressing (Level 6) course builds on your existing skills, taking them to a more advanced and creative level. You'll hone your artistic flair and technical expertise through a curriculum that's tailored to the fast-changing industry.
Some of the exciting topics you may explore include:

• creative and combination cutting techniques
• creative colouring techniques, including colour correction
• styling and dressing long hair for high fashion and special occasions, allowing your creativity and imagination to shine
• consultation techniques and general salon duties

In addition to classroom training, you'll gain valuable experience through:

• one day a week of work experience in a local salon
• participation in industry competitions like the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists Annual Competition (AHT)
• volunteering for community projects such as fashion shows or drama productions
• organizing fundraising events for charity
• learning from industry experts and attending industry training days
