Overview

If you are interested in working in health and social care this course is an ideal step towards achieving that goal. Choosing to study with us means you will gain the theoretical and practical skills required to work in care from a team of experienced lecturers.

Entry requirements

For entry to this course you’ll need: -  

  • A real interest in working with people  
  • Five relevant National 4s or equivalent including English and ideally Maths/Numeracy at C level or above OR a recent and relevant course at SCQF Level 4 or equivalent, such as Access to Health and Social Care or Access to Early Education and Childcare OR other equivalent qualifications or experience. 
  • An interview with us during which you will complete a short written activity  
  • Applicants whose first language is not English should have a minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for level 5 courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses 
  • You should be aware that you will be asked to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme on all care courses at level 6 or above and be occupationally fit for practice. 

Course content

This course gives you an understanding of what you’ll need to know to work successfully in a care practice setting. It offers a broad understanding of key areas in health and social care to prepare you for your next progression route or employment.
