Entry requirements

For this course you'll need:

National 3 qualifications in Maths and English or a relevant course at SCQF 3 or equivalent.

If you don't have formal qualifications but have life experience, then we'll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.

Course content

This course covers:

  • food safety: learn the ABCs of keeping the kitchen clean
  • bread basics: from kneading to baking, get the tips on bread
  • craft baking: master the art of cookies, pastries and more
  • food preparation techniques: knife skills, cooking methods, and plating
  • cake decoration: icing, layering, and making your bakes amazing
  • culinary terms: know your 'al dente' from your 'mise en place'
  • menu planning: basics of putting together a meal that wows
  • hospitality: confidence is service and front of house
