New student association team elected at Ayrshire College
Ayrshire College students have held their annual election to crown a new Student President and Student Vice President of the Ayrshire College Student Association.
Voting took place across a full week on the students’ online learning hub Moodle.
In the end there were four candidates running for office. The students voted knowing that the person who received the most votes would take on the responsibilities of Student President, with the runner-up becoming Student Vice President.
Ayrshire College announced on Friday 29 March that Jack McCrindle, 18 from Ardrossan, and Lauren Howieson, 21 and also from Ardrossan, had secured the majority votes and will be the 2019/20 Ayrshire College Student Association team.
Jack, who is the current Student Vice President, was voted in as Student President, while Lauren, is new to the Student Association team and joins following an HNC Social Sciences course.
The team will start working together from 1 July 2019. Until then the current team of Kevin Simpson and Jack McCrindle will continue to support and represent students across the College.
Announcing the results in a college-wide email, Student Association Advisor Charlotte Mitchell wrote “Thank you to all of the candidates for taking part in what was a very positive election, and thank you to all the students who voted to ensure that the Student Association continues to be the voice of students across Ayrshire.
“Thank you also to all the staff who supported and encouraged students and candidates to take part and to the Learning Technologists, Learning Resource Centres, and the Marketing and Front of House teams for your assistance.”
