Army eBus comes to Ayrshire College

Ayrshire College welcomed a special double decker bus to its Kilwinning Campus – the British Army’s eBus.

Positioned in the car park directly outside the campus alongside a virtual racing rig and some prepared team building activities, the eBus offered Ayrshire College students the chance to play video games and hear from Army officials about the use of digital technology within defence.

Gaming is proven to be effective in growing individual skills sets, improving skills in communication, co-ordination, anticipation and leadership.

The Army has its own eSports teams who compete in various Halo, Counter Strike:GO, Rocket League, League of Legends and Valorant tournaments throughout the year.

Students from Ayrshire College, particularly the Computing students at the Kilwinning Campus, were intrigued to engage with the eBus and hear how about the application of future technologies in the Army.

Ayrshire College is the first college in Scotland to engage with the eBus.

Loraine Johnston, Curriculum Manager for Business and Computing at Ayrshire College, said: "It was fantastic to have the Scottish Games Week come to the students. As the first host of the eBus in Scotland, staff and students from Level 4 to HND Computing, Uniformed Services and Engineering enjoyed the experience. We hope to run this event again."
