Ayrshire College Celebrates New Partnerships with Scottish Engineering and NMIS at Industry Event

On Thursday, 10th October 2024, Ayrshire College welcomed leaders and experts from the aerospace, engineering, and advanced manufacturing sectors to its Kilmarnock Campus. The event, held in collaboration with Scottish Engineering and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), officially marked the College’s membership with both organisations and reinforced its commitment to advancing engineering skills development in AyrshThe gathering provided a forum for discussions on industry innovation, best practices, and the evolving skills needed to support growth in these high-demand sectors. Attendees toured the College’s cutting-edge engineering facilities, gaining insight into the technology and training that equip students with practical skills to succeed in their careers. 

 

Key speakers from Scottish Engineering, NMIS, and Ayrshire College addressed the challenges and opportunities involved in building a strong talent pipeline for Scotland’s aerospace and engineering industries. 

 

Angela Cox, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Ayrshire College, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnerships: 
“Ayrshire College has a proud history of providing the aerospace, engineering and advanced manufacturing industry with the skilled workforce they require. Our partnership with NMIS and Scottish Engineering will ensure we can continue to provide our employers, apprentices and students with the skills and knowledge they require to adopt new technologies and thrive.” 

 

Avril Thomson, Head of Skills at NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy, commented:
