Job Role: Trainee Hydrographic Survey Technician

Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm

Location: Irvine


Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys Ltd are a chartered survey company based in Irvine and working throughout the UK. We currently have employment opportunities for individuals with an interest in a career Hydrographic Surveying to join our team.


The role will involve assisting experienced Hydrographic Surveyors with their duties, whilst undergoing training to become an independent survey practitioner.
The role involves setting up and operating highly technical survey equipment, so a qualification or experience within an IT/Engineering related discipline would be beneficial, although full training on the specialist equipment used will be provided inhouse.


Applicants must be willing to work outdoors, onboard a range of survey vessels, in inshore and coastal environments. The work requires a flexible approach to working hours to suit weather and tides and involves early starts and unsocial hours on occasion. Staying away from home for short periods is also required.


About you:
- able to work as part of a team and on your own when training allows
- boat handling experience (RYA/MCA qualification) would be advantageous
- passion and drive to pursue a career within Hydrographic Surveying
- enthusiastic and motivated to learn
- a critical and logical thinker with problem solving skills
- openly communicative
- full UK driving license (or commitment to obtain one)
