September 24, 2019 - Jane Moore

I’ve had amazing insight into working in this industry. I even got to work at a fashion show hosted by Gok Wan.

Getting the chance to do some make-up work for my local theatre really sparked my interest in going back into education, so the Make-up Artistry course was perfect for me.

I enjoyed studying with people that shared the same interests as me, and getting the freedom to be creative.

The highlight for me has been working on the Graded Unit. It was so much fun to put my heart into a project using the all the skills I had learnt over my three years of studying.

I’ve had amazing insight into working in this industry. From working with the Drama students, to going to Newcastle for Alternative Model of the Year. I even got to work at a fashion show hosted by Gok Wan.

I am over the moon to have won this award. It’s made me feel amazing to know that all my time and effort really paid off. Overall, it’s a great confidence booster.

Coming to college was a little daunting as I have dyslexia, however I needn’t have worried as the support I received was incredible. The course was really varied, teaching us; fashion makeup, theatre and special effects, prosthetics, the basics of colouring and cutting and how to style hair and wigs. There was a lot of theory involved and learning about the business side of things has been useful.

Ayrshire College is a good place for anyone to learn. It’s been great to meet people who are interested in the same things as me and work on those skills together.

I’m freelancing at the moment, and I have some weddings booked for the future. My goal is to get into theatre and film work.
